Long Island has some legends that are always observed by folks in every town. These legends may prevail to be true, or they just may go unoticed. here are some that I myself have collected in my 14 years on this island:
1. Severe Weather Rarely strikes- This is one legend only observable by the most observant citizens and meteorologists. severe weather is when thunderstorms in tiny cells come over an area. they may have heavy rain, gusty winds, hail and even a tornado. Long Island hasn’t had a tornado in a while. Long Island is so small, we are a 90% miss and 10% hit. Also, most storms have to get over th sound or Atlantic to get here, and they often weaken over the cool waters.
2. George Washington and The Conklin House- Legend has it, that George Washington still sits in the chair and that he sat in when he came to a Hungtington Bar. Rumor has it that he still roams the house, which now houses an upstairs nursery school.
3. Of the three major legends, the worst one is the Amityville Horro House. It was recently up for sale and was bought. Lines were out the door. This is the house is claimed to be haunted, especially after the Lutz’s moved in 13 months after Robert Defeo Jr. brutally shot and killed 6 members of his family in the house. 28 days after moving in, the Lutz’s left, after claiming to being terrorized by paranormalities in the house…
So as you can see, some legends are just scientific while others are more science fiction. There are many more legends, but these 3 stand out and claim to be true…
Do you believe in that haunting stuff ? Get your school work done ?
I finished my school work and yes I do!
